Digital Art

Create a web site -- a digital (online) portfolio for your artwork.  We will discuss and practice using Microsoft FrontPage and Macromedia DreamWeaver MX.  I will also provide a short Flash MX demonstration (FYI -- use of DreamWeaver MX and Flash is purely optional).

Assignment #2

In this assignment students will work with a web authoring system (DreamWeaver) to create a digital portfolio for their artwork.  Students will carefully develop a site plan, page design, buttons, and special features.

Note: Landon will provide space on the school’s web server for student sites.  Upon completion of the course, students must relocate their site to an alternative server or save files to disk.

Grading criteria for this assignment and the fist marking period:

  • Construct a simple six page (home, Photoshop, illustrator, painter, animation, contact) website.

  • Add of the two Photoshop montages should appear on the front page of the site (index.htm)

  • The front page (index.htm) should include a title and description of the site

  • Both Photoshop montages should appear in the Photoshop section

  • Be sure to insert a working navigation bar on all the secondary level pages

  • All pages and graphics should load correctly from the Internet/Intranet

Grading criteria for second marking period:

  • Construct a professional looking, refined, site using tables and style sheets

  • Replace main navigation links with navigation buttons

  • Integrate a working submit form into the site (typically insert onto the contact page)

  • All sections of the site should clearly demonstrate a working knowledge of each and every program

  • Source files need to be burned to CD (disks will be provided during class)
