Project #5 -- Illustrator
(Business package project)

Assignment #5 (logo and business package project):

In this assignment you will work with Illustrator and will learn the difference between bitmap (raster) and vector images. Illustrator is a vector-imaging program. In class I will discuss the differences between these two types of file formats. I will also show you some examples of work that employ flat fields of color and text. Create a vector image and think about the ways in which you can utilize the tools of Illustrator. Compare the results to your prior experience using Photoshop (thankfully, many short-cuts that work in Photoshop also work in Illustrator).

Overview: Design and produce a complete business package (business card, letterhead and envelope) for a real or fictitious company -- samples provided below.

Central (main) assignment: create a professional Business Package (logo, business card, letterhead and envelope) design.

Specific grading criteria for assignment #5 (business package):

Three finished items (business card, envelope and letterhead).
Demonstrate applied understand of vector based graphics and text (anchor points, etc.)
Finished graphics should be well designed and professional looking (saved in .ai format)
The central graphic (logo) should abstractly relate to the product or service (real or imaginary). Carefully consider color, shape, size, etc.!
