Assignment #4: Presentation (PowerPoint delivery or other method -- see Mr. Zimmer for details)

Prepare a 15-20 minute presentation that informs and/or instructs fellow students.  Your presentation should enable classmates to apply a technique(s) directly following your demonstration.

Suggested topics:

  • Basic HTML tutorial -- explain the basics of HTML coding and tags (header, body, lists, tables, etc.).

  • Using the record actions function in Adobe Photoshop -- learn to record a series of actions and apply them to other images OR to an entire folder.

  • Using the slice tool function in Adobe Photoshop -- learn to slice a central image into parts, save it as a web page and create hover buttons over individual sections of the image.

  • Additional features of Adobe ImageReady -- expand on any features that we have not previously discussed in class (controlling file size, etc.).  Consider checking out a tutorial and discovering expanded features of the program.

  • Additional features of Adobe Photoshop -- demonstrate the 'automate' function procedure (create auto contact sheet, web gallery, picture package, etc.).

  • Fundamentals of Macromedia Flash -- understand the fundamentals of the program and how to access online tutorials that provide an easy way to learn more advanced features independently.

  • Fundamentals of Macromedia Fireworks -- demonstrate how Dreamweaver and Firework integrate (import and export techniques).

  • Fundamentals of Macromedia FreeHand (similar to Adobe Illustrator)

  • Contemporary issues in graphic design and digital art -- show samples of mind-expanding graphic design and discuss how the field is expanding.

  • Color theory tutorial -- gain a better understanding of how colors interrelate.  Introduce online tutorials that help explain color theory.

  • Understanding file types/sizes and learning to make informed choices about graphics.

  • Printing issues -- discuss best practices for achieving high quality printouts AND working with outside printers (i.e. CMYK, RGB, Index color, etc.).

  • Advanced color correction using Adobe Photoshop

  • Additional features of Dreamweaver -- expand on any features that we have not previously discussed in class (style sheets, layout tool, library items, assets, etc.).

  • Dreamweaver style sheets -- gain a better understanding of how style sheets can assist web developers in controlling and managing medium to large web sites.

Be sure get your topic approved by Mr. Zimmer BEFORE getting started!
