The committee will reserve 7 to 10 foursomes for individual registrants. Individuals will pay $175 and be registered on a first-come, first-served basis. Individuals may request to be placed with other individual registrants, but the committee cannot guarantee pairings, nor can it guarantee that all registrants will be able to participate. For paying participants, all payments must be received by April 5 or spots and sponsorships will be opened up to the waiting list. Non-Golfing Participants may join the group after the tournament for the awards ceremony and auction. There will be no charge for non-golfing participants. Team net score awards will be determined by taking the total handicap of each team, dividing by 5 and subtracting the result from the gross team scramble score. Format: Four-Person Captain’s Choice. Winners will be determined by lowest team gross and net scores based on team handicaps. All team members are expected to provide accurate handicaps or average scores upon application or registration. Participants who do not provide handicaps or average scores will play at scratch. Ties will be determined by matching cards based on lowest scores starting with the 18th hole and working backward until a winner is determined. Men will play from the White tees. Women will play from the Red tees. Students 13-and-under will play from the Red tees. Teams are made up of four players. Each player plays from their designated tees. After all tee shots are played, the team or captain will select the best shot, and all second shots are played from the position of the chosen ball. This procedure is followed until the ball is holed. Each shot will be played by all four players. Players may place the ball within one club length of the selected location, no closer to the hole. On the green, the ball may be moved within one putter head of the selected location, no closer to the hole. Players may not improve their lie (i.e. move ball from rough to fairway, fringe to green, bunker to fringe, etc.). In any group with less than four players, players will rotate hitting the fourth shot. Each team must use at least two tee shots from each player on the team. Maintain pace of play. Only 3 minutes are allowed when searching for a lost ball. Stay within a half hole of the group in front of you. Each player may purchase up to 3 mulligans for use during their round. Mulligans are for individual use and may be used only by the person for whom they were purchased. Mulligans cost $15 each or 3 for $30 and can be purchased in advance at registration. The maximum number of putts per hole is 3. If each team member attempts and misses two putts, the third putt is given and the team picks up and moves to the next hole. Mulligans may be used on either first or second putts. Teams must follow USGA and local club rules. Please fill in all divots with seed mix, repair ball marks on greens and rake sand traps. During the 2006 Sidwell Charity Golf Tournament, a tournament within the tournament, the First Annual Class Cup Competition, will be conducted. The Class Cup is a competition made up of teams formed exclusively from representatives of a given Sidwell Friends class year. Teams may consist of students, alumni and/or parents or grandparents representing a given class, but may not include any player who is not directly affiliated with that class. Classes may enter multiple teams. Class Cup teams will enter the competition by designating themselves as participants in the competition and completing a sponsorship of at least $2,000 (or $500 per player). Special exemptions may be made for all-student teams and young alumni teams (Class of 2001 or later), which may enter the competition at the regular player fee of $175. Sponsors at the $2,500 level and above may designate their foursome as participants in the Class Cup provided the foursome meets the eligibility requirements. Teams will receive all of the benefits of sponsorship as designated for the level of contribution. CLASS CUP COMPETITION RULES: Class Cup teams will follow the same rules as all teams in the tournament, and will also be eligible to win prizes in the overall tournament. The Class Cup prize will be awarded for the low net team. In addition, the low net team will have their names inscribed on a plaque that will be hung permanently in the Zartman House. Return to list of prizes and awards.
